Maintaining your certification is easy.

To renew your certification for one year, simply complete at least six (6) clock hours of post-graduate training specific to assessment and treatment of substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, suicide/self-injury, psychological trauma, submit the required documentation and make payment on the recertification application fee.

Recertification Process:

Step 1 - Complete the training as noted above. Satisfactory completion of 6 clock hours of addiction-related training since your most recent certification approval/renewal date.

A list of suggested training courses is found below. Note: Trainings are offered by 3rd party organizations who are happy to help answer any training - specific questions you may have, as well as assist you in training purchases.

    *For Recertification by equivalency, please submit a copy of the training’s title, speaker, outline and clock hours completed to for review.

Step 2 - Make payment on the recertification application fee of $49.99 USD.

Step 3 - Submit copies of the following documents to or mail at the address below:

  • Completed training certificates
  • Copy of your professional license

You can also apply for reapplication for 2 or 3 years. Follow the process above, submitting twelve (12) clock hours of training for a 2-year reapplication, and eighteen (18) clock hours of training for a 3-year application.

Recertification training hours need to have been taken in the time since you were certified or recertified.
